armTeX 3.14159 - Release 3 - 11. Jul 1998
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
This version of armTeX requires filenames which are longer
than 10 chars.
The Zip files must be unpacked into a directory that allows this.
You can use Richard Atterer's raFS or Jason Tribbeck's LongFiles. You
can get the latest versions of these programs at:
http://home.augsburg.baynet.de/richard.atterer/
(raFS)
http://www.tribbeck.com/ (LongFiles)
The latest versions at the time of writing are provided in rafs115.zip
and LF210.arc
Be sure to use a dearchiver which uses / as the
extension separator. InfoZip does this as does the !SparkPlug which is
provided in splug.bas. It a self-extracting archive,
set the filetype to BASIC and run it.
These are the files currently distributed with armTeX:
base.zip
Documentation for armTeX. The basic directory structure and !TeX directory.
Essential binaries. This archive holds just enough to run plain TeX.
dviview.zip toolbox.zip
Paul Field's DVI file previewer.
latex.zip
LaTeX2e in a preinstalled version. Tools and Graphics standard packages
pre-installed.
lowmemory.zip
Binaries and format files which are essential for running TeX when memory
is low. 4MB users should download this.
babel.zip
The Babel multilingual system (almost) pre-installed. Hyphenation patterns
are supplied for American and British English in base.zip.
ams.zip
Pre-installed extensions to LaTeX from the American Mathematical Society.
Really good tools for serious mathematical typesetting.
bibtex.zip
BibTeX is a bibliography generator for LaTeX.
extras.zip
Not so often needed binaries and Texinfo, the GNU documentation system.
metafont.zip
Binaries and prebuilt base file for Metafont. Sources for the Computer
Modern typefaces. A version for 4MB users is in lowmemory.zip. You still
need this archive to use Metafont, though.
latexsrc.zip, babelsrc.zip,
amssrc.zip
LaTeX documented source code for LaTeX and the packages. These are not
needed to use LaTeX.
sources1.zip sources2.zip
Sources for all the binaries in WEB and C format. Source code for BibTeX
and Texinfo is not available.
texfonts/
This directory contains the TeXFonts 3.00 distribution (taken from HENSA).
See the readme.txt file there.
extras/
Some programs that are useful with TeX. See extras/readme.txt
To get TeX up and running you need base.zip,
dviview.zip
and some fonts, latex.zip is highly recommended.
If you only have 4MB of memory you need lowmemory.zip
also.
armTeX will not run in less than 4MB.
